Who are Vispring?
Since 1901, Vispring have been creating the most naturally luxurious mattresses in the industry. From supplying the wealthiest of the population with incredible sleep surfaces, to becoming one of the biggest names in supportive comfort, Vispring promises an enhanced quality of sleep.
The first to produce the pocket spring
Vispring began life in 1901, after founders John Nolon and Frederick James discovered the innovative pocket-sprung mattress that British engineer James Marshall had created for his sick wife in Canada. Inspired by this level of adaptable support, Nolon and James began producing this type of mattress commercially. The first to introduce this specialist mattress design, Vispring was created by a team dedicated to the absolute best in support and comfort.
Supplying the Titanic
Vispring have long been the number one name in luxury sleep, even being asked to supply opulent ocean liners like the Titanic and Olympic - for these ships, only the finest beds and mattresses would do, and so Vispring was brought on board.
Moving from London to Plymouth in the 1970s, Vispring is now a dedicated team of 130 craftsmen and women, who meticulously handcraft every product from start to finish, ensuring nothing short of absolute luxury.
Recognised around the World
Vispring were proudly awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise in 2012, honoured for their excellence in international trade, innovation, and sustainable development.
Not only did the Royals recognise Vispring as a leader in innovative sleep support, but hundreds of hotel chains worldwide swear by Vispring to offer their customers the very best night's sleep. Some of the most famous hotels in the world, such as The Dorchester, The Beverley Hills Hotel, and The BVLGARI Hotel Beijing provide a Vispring mattress for their guests.
What is in a Vispring mattress?
From the pioneers of the pocket spring mattress, Vispring create the most naturally luxurious mattresses in the sleep industry. Using only natural materials, such as 100% British wool, horsetail, silk, cashmere, and mohair, you'll find no plastic, polyester, foam, chemicals, or other man-made products within a Vispring mattress.
All of the natural fibres that Vispring use have been specially selected from around the world, sourced directly from British farmers and select, trusted suppliers. This long perfected blend of fibres is then hand-teased to create the cloud-like comfort that Vispring mattresses are known for.
Using the same time-honored skills that have been tried and tested since 1901, Vispring craft each of their mattresses by hand, from start to finish, ensuring nothing short of complete luxury.
The leaders in handmade luxury mattresses, a Vispring mattress is a true investment in your overall well-being.
What is a Vispring pocket spring?
Within every Vispring mattress is a single, double, or triple layer of innovative Vispring pocket springs. As one of the only remaining UK bed manufacturers to produce their own spring, Vispring cut and coil them in-house to their famous 6-turn design.
These springs are made from specialist Vanadium steel, which is superior in strength and durability to regular steel. 74 different types of spring enable Vispring to create bespoke mattresses that support and comfort every kind of sleeper.
Each spring is enclosed in its own highly breathable cotton calico pocket, free from bleach and dyes, and is nested in a unique honeycomb design, fixed with natural twine. Vispring ensure this pocket spring system is glue-free, allowing full adaptability and maintaining a fully natural mattress.
How long does a Vispring mattress last?
The borders of each Vispring mattress are made of pure wool, cotton, and coir fibre derived from coconut husks, which provide natural stability and maintain the structure of each mattress. Paired with luxurious fillings and durable Vanadium steel springs, each Vispring mattress is of incredible quality, so much so that they come with an impressive 30-year guarantee.
This durability is enhanced by artisan side-stitching, which, unlike mass-produced mattresses, is all done by hand using natural twine. This lengthy, intricate process further maintains the structure of each Vispring mattress, safeguarding their generous guarantee and ensuring a long-lasting mattress.
Are Vispring mattresses sustainable?
Because every Vispring mattress is made purely from natural materials, they create a fully biodegradable sleep surface. These materials also mean that there’s no need for a fire retardant layer to be added to your mattress, and each one is personally checked and given a unique, signed fire safety label. This lack of fire hazard means that no chemicals need to be used in the creation process, making Vispring mattresses safer and healthier for you and the environment.
Not only this, but Vispring’s dedication to sustainability sees them work closely with British farmers, directly sourcing natural materials from UK farms to support the industry.
